Paulo was awarded the PhD degree, subject to minor amendments being made to the thesis. It was a long journey, an investigation about urban conflict and reciprocity between Chicala and Luanda, Angola. Paulo joined The Cass School of Architecture’s PhD programme in February 2010 and submitted his thesis in September 2016. The thesis was examined by AbdouMaliq Simone (external examiner) and Dr. Nabil Ahmed (internal examiner), with independent chair Simone ten Hompel. The viva voce examination took place at the Tower Building, London Metropolitan University (UK).
